Aam Aadmi Party is a political party in India launched officially on 26 November 2012. The party came into existence after differences arose between the activists Arvind Kejriwal and Anna Hazare regarding whether or not to publish the popular movement that had been demanding a Jan Lokpal Bill since 2011. Hazare preferred that the movement should remain politically uneven while Kejriwal considered that the failure to achieve its ends through indirect influence on the political process commanded a direct political involvement.
The Aam Aadmi Party abbreviated as AAP, has resulted in several protests since formation, appending a campaign against a anticipated nexus between government and private corporations applying to price rises for electricity and water in Delhi, fighting for justice for survivors/ victims of sexual harassment and rape, and demanding a strong anti-rape law in India.
